This day was dedicated for Groupe SEB. We were picked from the hotel at 9AM and dropped in their office that looked like a posh house from the outside. We were welcomed by Ms Eliana Leonhardt who ran a tour of the ARNO (a brand of Groupe SEB) store. The store was more of a workshop where customers could attend cooking classes and learn how to care for their home better with the help of ARNO’s appliances. The concept of providing customers with this experience was interesting to us as ARNO gave them a feel of the products before they bought them from a point of sale located next door to the workshop. The afternoon was set for a site visit at their plant located in Mooca and we got to see a production and assembling unit. Ms Cleonice de Oliveira, the Human Resources Manager at Groupe SEB was the one who had organized the transportation, lunch and factory visit.
The factory visit was a different experience from the prior visits. The students got the opportunity to observe the entire set-up of the SEB-ARNO factory. The visit was an opportunity to discuss the processes involved, the management procedures and work-culture with the professionals who guided us around the plant.
A reference in modern architecture and originality, Hotel Unique’s spacey, green copper façade alone makes it unlike any other. A carefully choreographed spectrum of circles and squares, ellipses and sine curves flow in and out of each other, softened by wooden flooring, sleek white furnishings and transparent glass tables and fittings. The rooftop terrace displays amazing views of the city, if you manage to take your eyes off of the fascinating crimson red swimming pool. The terrace was where we spent all our time, discussing how the trip had been so far and frequently distracted by the view of Sao Paulo’s skyline. It was a perfect finale for the trip.
